Standing the Test of Time
A Brief History of The Hutch
Imagine life in 1892, at the height of the Gilded Age. In the bustling mill town of Faribault, Capt. John Hutchinson Jr.—a Civil War veteran and partner in both the Faribault Furniture Company and the Faribault Roller Mills—sought to build a grand home for his growing family. He envisioned more than property. Capt. Hutchinson created a breathtaking Queen Anne Victorian masterwork. This architectural marvel with its iconic octagonal turret stands just three blocks from the heart of downtown.
For over 130 years, this home has been a witness to history. From its time as the Hutchinson's dream home to its current chapter as a boutique inn, 'The Hutch' has been lovingly preserved. Today, we serve as the ninth stewards of this treasure. We carry forward a legacy of hospitality and old-world charm, ensuring that this historic home remains a place for family, friends, and travelers to gather and share their own stories.
